Backing up Data
We have a service, iBackup, that automatically backs up
critical files and folders online.
they are at http://www.ibackup.com/
Our UserName is centralcourier
Our Password is enimplar
All PCs that are fitted with auto backup will
have this iCon in the Windows toolbar at the
bottom of the screen:
If you right-click on the above iCon, you will
see this:
... which basically shows if iBackup is running or not.
It should be green. You can also Stop a Transfer in progress
or View a Log to see if a file was successfully backed up.
The top-left box is your files, you can expand Disk C,
for instance, and select single files or
whole folders. It is wise to choose only files worth saving. Once they are
backed up, they
will be checked every time a backup is made, but will be backed up only if they
have changed.
There is no need to save most software, files ending with
exe, as they must be reinstalled
much of the time anyway and backing these files up is a waste of time and space.
The top-right box shows files and folders already
backed up and the percentage of our allocated
space that is in use.
The double wide bottom box shows a detail list of files
to be backed up.
From this window (above) you can Backup Now,
Schedule Backups or Restore files
back to where
they came from (in case of lost or damaged files). Restore is dangerous insomuch
as you can
download old files on top of new files and lose data! (if you aren't careful).
You will probably never use Manage All the Scheduled Jobs
because we are not using multiple
schedules.
Disable All Scheduled Jobs is self explanatory and likely never will be used either.
Shutdown Indicator will close the iCon in the toolbar
and just make it harder to monitor the
backup software. There shouldn't be a need for that.
